What is More hours of 4-Year-Old Kinder?
4-Year-Old Kinder in Victoria and reflects expanded learning hours in the year before school. The program builds on 3-Year-Old Kinder and gives children even more time to learn, grow, play and form friendships before starting school.
4-Year-Old Kinder will continue to be play-based and led by qualified early childhood teachers, following the Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework.
As part of the Victorian Government’s best start reforms, More hours of 4-Year-Old Kinder is gradually being rolled out across the state. Over time the program will expand from 15 hours per week to up to 30 hours per week, giving families more flexibility and children more time to engage in quality early learning before school.
